Where would you go?

If you could travel to any place in the world, RIGHT NOW, where would go?

I asked my boyfriend this and he said, without hesitation, Fiji (he's a surfer and apparently this is a surfing mecca).

My answer would be NYC. I know a lot of people who live in NYC and I'm sure to many of you reading this, going to NYC would actually not be a very big deal at all. But living in California all my life, NYC is a location I've always dreamt about visiting. I think I have longed to be immersed in NYC's culture, history, and energy for as long as I can remember.

To think about how many pieces of great art, literature, music and film were created in NYC is enough to boggle the mind. If I were there, I'd want to feel the sidewalk outside of the Hotel Chelsea and think about how many legends pressed their boots against that very same cement.

I'm afraid that my first trip to NYC would have me in sensory overload with an itinerary that would be far too ambitious for one person to successfully complete. I want to see places well-known and obscure; I want to walk the distance of a city block and get a feeling of what it actually means when someone says, "I walked 20 blocks to get to that restaurant the other night" (city blocks in San Diego are HUGE, but I hear they're relatively small in NYC). I just want to take it all in with hungry eyes and appreciate every single moment. I honestly don't care one bit about shopping in NYC--I would be there to SEE and EXPERIENCE, not to buy.

So anyway, where would YOU go right now, if the sky was the limit? And more importantly, WHY?

How funny! My immediate response in my head was NYC. I've always wanted to go and my husband and I plan on going, just the 2 of us one day. LOL We really want to go during Christmas time though, so that's hard with 3 kids to leave behind. :( One day, G. One day.

I would love to visit Japan. I'm a quarter Japanese, my mother was born in Tokyo and I was born in Okinawa. Unfortunately, my family moved to Scotland shortly after, so I have zero recollection! We left Scotland for the US when I was only two, so I don't remember it either. :( I studied Japanese in high school & since my college didn't offer it, I'm a lot rusty. No bother though, because I would love to meet my Japanese relatives and bask in the land of cute!

My second would be the Czech Republic. I've always wanted to visit Prague! In high school, I was obsessed with ice hockey and my favorite player was Czech. My little sister got to visit and oh man, so jealous!
